It's the time of year where we are enjoying the happy faces of the spring bulb flowers...crocuses, daffodils, tulips, jonquils, etc. And it's the latter that inspired me to make an implosion that mimicked the jonquil to the best of my ability. My first attempt left much to be desired, the cupped center was too pointed instead of the soft ruffled edge and the stamens left much to be desired as well. Second attempt, I was pleased with the shape but disappointed by the lack of color to the center portion of the flower. I used a different color combination to get a softer buttery center, but lost the yellow all together. My last attempt came out pretty well, but I lost some of the symmetry that I had achieved with the second. Overall, I'm starting to get the hang of this jaunty flower and will endeavor to capture it's elusive beauty!
