Inspired Spring!

It's the time of year where we are enjoying the happy faces of the spring bulb flowers...crocuses, daffodils, tulips, jonquils, etc. And it's the latter that inspired me to make an implosion that mimicked the jonquil to the best of my ability. My first attempt left much to be desired, the cupped center was too pointed instead of the soft ruffled edge and the stamens left much to be desired as well. Second attempt, I was pleased with the shape but disappointed by the lack of color to the center portion of the flower. I used a different color combination to get a softer buttery center, but lost the yellow all together. My last attempt came out pretty well, but I lost some of the symmetry that I had achieved with the second. Overall, I'm starting to get the hang of this jaunty flower and will endeavor to capture it's elusive beauty!

Follow the Sun - Part II

As promised I have posted my sun piece now that it is finished in a multi media composition. This is certainly something that is new for me and it took quite a bit of time for me to finally come up with something that I'm pleased with. The background board went through quite a variation of colors before I finally came up with the final color. It's funny how you can visualize something...but when it comes to the application, it's doesn't always come out the way you think. I certainly need to explore this avenue a bit more. So, it will be interesting to see how I evolve in this area and you can watch as it happens.
